No good story starts without a cocktail, so let me tell you how I came to know and trust Mazen ...
We met nearly a decade ago when he was lead bartender at the Driftwood Room in the Hotel Deluxe in Portland, Oregon - an acclaimed institution in the city. It was a long weekend full of shopping, friends and family. When walking into the bar, I accidentally tripped and stumbled into a barstool because I had unknowingly dropped one of my bags. What I got was a warm welcome and a drinkable goodie for a happy accident.
We met over a prompt I gave him to create a drink to make me feel like I’m in the Swiss Alps. He was excited by the unique request and absolutely stunned me with his quick creation of the Golden Revolver, a signature drink of his made just for me. I still have the (vaguely) written recipe ... but he still won't give up the measurements! Aside from his fabulous taste in cocktails and wine (I always reach out before a gathering for a suggestion), I got some great style tips as we dug through the bags I dragged in and over the years, I have come to trust him for interior design as well. His personal style definitely stands out, especially for a self-taught designer of his tenure.
His ability to brighten a room with his presence and approach challenges, when needed, makes him a valued friend and true professional. He has helped me not only with the challenges a friend has every day, but also helped me style two residences in the Seattle area. His eye for detail makes it no wonder Mazen was known in Portland for his iconic style and energy. I’m happy to see he continues this vibe of beauty and grace in the Big Apple.
He perseveres and is exceptional even in the most challenging of scenarios and I can’t recommend him enough.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
